Understanding Infantilism & The ABDL (Adult Baby Diaper Lover) Community.
Working with clients who are a part of the ABDL community can be difficult when there is little clinical information/training on infantilism. People within this community often struggle with feeling marginalized within the larger kink communities, and then struggle additionally with finding a knowledgeable and kink-positive therapist who can help them and their partner(s) understand their desires and how they fit within the larger context of their lives. This lecture/discussion will highlight basic knowledge about the topic of infantilism and discuss clinical implications for individual and couples therapy.
Presenter: Laura Grimes, LCSW
At the conclusion of the evening, participants will be able to:
- Speak with understanding the basic concepts and terms used about infantilism.
- Assess a client’s sexual identity and the possible behaviors and implications associated with it.
- Identify the possible strengths and struggles individuals and couples may face when incorporating infantilism into their identity/lives.
