We are very happy to introduce Mariel Gardiner, MA, LPC. Mariel joined the Green House in January of this year. We talked to Mariel about her decision to join the Green House and what it means for her.

How did you learn about the Green House?

I learned about the Green House program through my connection to Lifeworks and from colleagues who went through the Green House program in previous years and spoke highly of their experience.

What drew you to the Green House?

In reading the mission of Lifeworks and of this program, I feel incredibly inspired and excited for the opportunity to not only develop my therapeutic skills in depth psychotherapy, but to understand myself as a person and clinician in relation to my clients and peers, while deepening my understanding in areas around LGBTQ+ and gender diverse communities including sex work, and polyamory and kink communities.

What are you hoping to gain by being in the Green House and how do you imagine it will impact your future?

I am hoping to gain clinical skills and understanding of the populations served and also to connect to peers and community. I imagine the impact of this program will allow me to be a more competent therapist and I will carry these skills with me in my future work.

In the short amount of time, since you joined the Green House, what has surprised you most and why?

I have been delightfully surprised in the sense of community and belonging so early on! I have felt incredibly welcomed and supported which was unexpected as I have just begun.

Anything else professionally that you are particularly looking forward to this year?

I am looking forward to learning from staff and peers who have so much knowledge to share and connecting to community and clients alike.
