A Rainbow Is Not Enough: An Intersectionality of Race and Kink
Kink and BDSM is impacted by the way our society racializes peoples’ identities, in a variety of ways – how people experience their kink, as well as how people conceptualize their own kink identity, how people experience multiple forms of stigma and discrimination, and how people experience kink spaces. The presentation will review conceptual frameworks, research data, and clinical experience/insight concerning kink and race.
Based on the content of this presentation, attendees will be able to:
• Define “racialized identity”
• Summarize the latest research on race and kink and identify areas in need of further work
• Describe at least two clinical issues when working with racialized kink-involved clients
