This morning I’ve been thinking about my retirement from facilitating this support group. The last 2 times I will officially be with you all are scheduled for the September and December meetings (after that Cindy and Antonia will facilitate). And that got me thinking about endings in the polyamorous community.
Over the years we have talked a lot about beginnings in this community, i.e. how to meet polyamorous folks, coming out to family, friends, co-workers, new relationship energy, etc. But we’ve rarely spoken about endings in polyamorous relationships. Some of you have asked about how to break up when it involves children, or the impact on others in polycules, etc. As I’ve been retiring from my role at LifeWorks Psychotherapy, I’ve done quite a bit of “breaking up” and now I’ll be breaking up with you too. Needless to say, along with separation come complex thoughts and feelings.
