We are very happy to introduce Brittny Garcia, MSW. Brittny joined the Green House Fellowship program in January of this year, she brings her own experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds to the program and LifeWorks. We talked to Brittny about her decision to join the Green House and what it means for her.

How did you learn about the Green House?

I heard about the Green House from an alumni of the program through an email chain from the practice (Accepting Therapy) I was interning at.

What drew you to the Green House?

The population and communities that LifeWorks work with is what drew my attention. I also appreciated the sex-positive approach of the program.

What are you hoping to gain by being in the Green House and how do you imagine it will impact your future?

I am hoping to gain more experience in working with the populations and communities that LifeWorks serve.

I also am looking forward to gaining more training in depth psychotherapy. I feel this would is an important approach to use with clients, to go deeper and reach new milestones.

In the short amount of time, since you joined the Green House, what has surprised you most and why?

Not very many surprises. I am very happy with the warm and welcoming environment. Whether that is from my cohort members or the clinicians of LifeWorks, I like the openness and care I have received so far.

Anything else professionally that you are particularly looking forward to this year?

I am looking forward to a different type of learning experience. Although I am coming straight out of grad school, I feel the Green House will be more experiential and community-focused. I also look forward to forming connections with other members of my cohort and the staff at Lifeworks that are providing supervision, mentorship and guidance .
