We are very happy to introduce Nico Gianni, M.A. Nice joined the Green House Fellowship program in January of this year. Nico is a queer, sex affirming therapist with experience working within the LGBTQIA+ and Consensual Non-monogamy communities. We talked to Nico about his decision to join the Green House and what it means for him.

How did you learn about the Green House?

I had several coworkers who were former members of the Green House and they spoke highly of their time in the fellowship.

What drew you to the Green House?

I originally entered into the counseling field with the intention of working with clients within the LGBTQIA+ community. As I gained experience, I realized I wanted additional training in working with members of these marginalized communities and saw Green House as an exciting opportunity to do so.

What are you hoping to gain by being in the Green House and how do you imagine it will impact your future?

I hope to gain the skills necessary to help my clients leverage their strengths and identities in order to face the issues that they bring to counseling. With the experience, training, and supervision the Green House provides, I know that I will be well prepared to help our communities for the rest of my career.

In the short amount of time, since you joined the Green House, what has surprised you most and why?

Since my introduction to the Green House, I’ve been struck by the breadth of generational knowledge the staff at LifeWorks has. It is amazing to see others who not only embody the mission of Green House, but actively employ its tenants in every interaction.

Anything else professionally that you are particularly looking forward to this year?

I’m looking forward to developing professional relationships with other members of the cohort, knowing that we all share the same goals for our work and providing affirming care to our communities.
